What is PEI Sheet

PEI Sheet Bed

A PEI sheet for 3D printing is often made of spring steel and coated with polyetherimide (PEI for short) powder on its surface, either smooth or textured. PEI sheet has strong adhesion properties and chemical stability that makes it a good option for FDM 3D printing. Prusa 3D printers are big fans of spring steel PEI sheets.

Before you purchase a PEI sheet, one thing you should keep in mind, your print bed might be a little bit larger than the build volume as the manufacturer stated.

 For example, Creality describes its Ender 3 Series 3D printers (including Ender 3, Ender 3 Pro, Ender 3 V2, Ender 3 S1, and Ender 3 S1 Pro) have a build volume of 220*220*250mm. And many users may get the idea of a 220*200mm build plate on Ender 3. But this is totally wrong. The actual bed size of Creality Ender 3 3D printer is 235*235mm. Hence, you should get a 235*235mm PEI sheet for your Ender 3. Here comes the rule for choosing the right PEI sheet for your 3D printer: Always measure out the print bed dimensions on your own if you only know your 3D printer's build volume. This will prevent from buying inappropriate PEI sheet which doesn't fit your printer.
