Why Custom Filament Preset
People may not realize that they can improve the 3D printing quality by doing one more step: using the custom filament preset.
There is an easy way to use Bambu Lab presets on a third-party filament, which is attaching the FRID chip on your spools. It should give you good results if the filaments also have great qualities. But the RFID chips cannot cover all filaments. Due to the material difference, the Bambu Lab preset may not fit perfectly. For example, the Bambu PETG Basic preset is 10 degrees higher than KINGROON PETG Basic, which is more obvious on the transparent PETG. I found that when using the Bambu PETG Basic Transparent preset on KINGROON PETG Basic Transparent. It strings a little bit, and the surface performance bad. But it turns out to be the same good when I lower the top temperature by 10 degrees.
We’d better build our custom filament presets or go get it from the manufacturer.
For KINGROON filament users, you can download the presets from the blow link.

How to Use it on Bambu Handy
The custom filament preset can also be used on Bambu Handy, and it’s going to save you a lot of time.
Bambu Handy is a Mobile app that can bind to the 3D printer. There are all kinds of 3D models with proven profiles, people can print them directly. Once you have printed one model, you can print it from the print history, which also includes the file you sliced on the computer.
For KINGROON users, you can import the preset on your PC, then start the app. As long as you log in to the same account on the Bambu Studio.
First, click on the icons in the filament area, select the brand, choose the material type, and then select a similar color. Then the preset is activated.

After that, you can switch the material type and choose your filament presets. For example, you find a model in PLA profile and there are PETGs in your AMS, doesn’t matter, just choose “Generic PETG”, choose the spool, then click on “Use my filament presets”, then choose the “KINGROON PETG Basic”.
If you print from the print history, you must set the presets every time, since it cannot store any settings from the history. And the print history can only be stored for 90 days. Remember to reprint the early records to have everything stored.
