Kingroon KP3S Stock Firmware
There are three kinds of MCU of Kingroon KP3S 3D printer mainboard, STM32 F407, GD32 F303, STM32 F103. Before you flash your firmware please double confirm your MCU verison. Wrong version flashed would brick your mainboard.
NOTE: KP3S 3.0 mainboard MCU GD32 F303 and KP3S 3.0 mainboard MCU STM32 F103 use the same firmware.

Yes, you’re right, you don’t need to update the firmware without replacing the motherboard.
Holm, to date I am unaware of a means to check without opening the bottom and looking at the actual chip. It’s only 8 screws.
That said, unless you are just trying to go back to the default original firmware these files are NOT updates. These files above are merely their base firmwares which came on the machines. So if you already have the original firmware on your machine these are no different.
How can i check without opening the printer, which firmware is needed?

As EDO said it looks like the f103 and gd32 use the same firmware. Use the link for the f103 to get the correct firmware for the gd32. As of this writing the gd32 links to the f407 firmware which obviously is not correct. You can also update to Marlin 2.×.x if you like or can roll your own. Check out the Facebook groups.
